Celebrate a Century of Camp Tanamakoon: A Weekend at Camp

Join us for an unforgettable “Weekend at Camp” as we commemorate 100 years of Camp Tanamakoon’s legacy, nestled in the heart of Algonquin Park. This special event is designed to bring our cherished alumni together, offering a unique blend of nostalgia, celebration, and the great outdoors. Whether you choose to immerse yourself fully in the camp experience with an overnight stay or prefer to join us for a day of fun and reminiscence, this weekend promises to be a highlight of our centennial celebrations. Information below outlines the logistics for the camp weekend with accommodation options and a Saturday day trip.

Overnight Stay

Dive deep into the camp spirit by choosing one of our overnight stay options. Embrace the full camp experience by staying on-site at Camp Tanamakoon, or enjoy the rustic luxury offered by our partner locations, The Pines and Bartlett Lodge. Each option provides a unique way to experience the magic of Tanamakoon, complete with special activities, meals, and the warmth of campfires under starlit skies.

Saturday Day Trip

For those who wish to join in the fun but can’t stay overnight, our Saturday Trip option is perfect. Spend a memorable day filled with activities, laughter, and the chance to reconnect with old friends, all set against the backdrop of our beautiful camp. Enjoy a taste of Tanamakoon’s century-long tradition of friendship and adventure, leaving with memories that will last a lifetime.

No matter how you choose to participate, the “Weekend at Camp” is an opportunity to honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future of Camp Tanamakoon. Let’s come together to mark this milestone in the place where it all began, sharing stories, creating new memories, and reinforcing the bonds that make our camp family so special.

Registration Information

Important details

Registration followed a first-come, first-served signup process, with a waitlist option available. Details regarding the camp weekend’s logistics are provided below.
Please note that this event was exclusively for Alumni aged 19 and above, and was not open to current campers or staff. Registration has now closed.

June 7-9, 2024
Arrival: Friday, June 7, at 4pm to 6pm.
Dinner at 7pm
Departure: Sunday, June 9, promptly after brunch at 12 noon.

Saturday Day Trip:
June 8, 2024
Bus Departure Toronto: Saturday, June 8 at 7:00am
Bus Arrival at Cache Lake landing: Saturday, June 9 at 10:30am (approximately)
Drivers Arrival at Cache Lake: Saturday, June 9 at 10:30am
Departure: Saturday June 9th after Dinner at 7:00pm (approximately)

Parking

Alumni are responsible for purchasing a parking pass during their stay in Algonquin Park. Passes can be purchased at the Park Gates. Approximate costs are: $21.00 vehicle/day or Seniors 65+ $16.80 vehicle/day.
All weekend participants staying overnight at Camp Tanamakoon will walk in and out by the path. Shuttle service provided for cars and luggage back and forth from the Cache Lake Landing and Path (22km). For those that are not able to physically walk the path, motor boat transportation will be available.

Meals and Dietary Requirements

A form to specify any food allergies or special dietary needs will be included in the registration package.

Medical Care & General Assistance

There will be qualified first aid staff available on site for the duration of the Alumni weekend. There is an ATV on the camp property for those who might require assistance.

Transportation and Registration:
Free shuttle service is available from Toronto or alumni are welcome to arrange their own transportation. Regardless of your transportation choice, registration is required to attend, covering meals, event registration, and confirming your participation for Saturday.

Most Tanamakoon Alumni will embrace the authentic camp experience by staying on-site, immersing themselves fully in the Tanamakoon spirit. For those seeking alternatives, we’ve outlined below the itineraries and comprehensive details for accommodations at The Pines, Bartlett Lodge, or for those joining us for the Saturday Day Trip. Explore the options to tailor your reunion experience.

Details for The Pines

For Alumni wanting stay off site and still participate at Tanamakoon for all meals and activities.

Cost: $533.50 per person (Minimum 2 nights Friday mid-afternoon to Sunday noon )
Deadline for reservations is April 22, 2024. All rooms/cabins not reserved will be sold off starting April 23, 2024.
Cost includes accommodation and all meals; registration and payment will be completed in two parts. Following registration direct with The Pines, details will be provided to complete registration with the Alumni Committee.
All guests are required to bring their own bedding, The Pines does provided blankets and comforters.
Please indicate any names of those with whom you wish to be in the same cabin, if applicable.

This option offers Alumni to experience a day trip to Tanamakoon.

Cost: $125 per person.
Travel options:
Bus to/from Toronto to Tanamakoon.
Boat transportation from Cache Lake Landing to/from Camp.

Activities & Workshops for the Weekend

Join us in making our centennial celebration unforgettable! We’re thrilled to offer a wide range of activities including canoeing, archery, woodcraft, swimming, tennis, and more, alongside cherished traditions like flag raising, morning dips, singing in the dining room, music nights, and campfires with friends from summer days. We’re also excited to invite alumni to lead workshops—whether it’s yoga, painting, art, massage, or any other creative pursuit you’re passionate about, we welcome your ideas. Important Policies

Alcohol, Smoking & Drug Use: Camp Tanamakoon is a smoke-free and drug-free environment. Alcohol consumption is limited to wine served at dinner on Friday and Saturday; no other alcoholic beverages permitted on camp property, non-alcoholic cocktails will be available. 

Clothing: Open-toed shoes or sandals are not permitted.
